Britney Spears rejects reports of staged intervention: “Enough Is Enough”
After multiple reports alleged that Spears’ inner circle attempted an intervention amid concerns over her well-being, the pop star took to Instagram to blast the claims: “No folks…. it’s not 2007.”
Britney Spears has spoken out following reports that her inner circle attempted to stage an intervention on the pop star.
Spears blasted reports that such a confrontation was initiated over concerns for her well-being in an Instagram post shared Thursday.
According to multiple reports published Thursday, Spears’ inner circle planned an intervention to encourage her to seek help after becoming concerned about her behavior, which was described as “very difficult” and “absolutely chaotic.” TMZ, citing anonymous sources, first reported an alleged failed intervention, stating that concerns have grown amid Spears’ problems with “mental health and substance abuse,” leaving those around her concerned because she’s been “flying off the handle” and is “not taking medications that stabilize her.”
It was reported that Spears would be taken to a house in the Los Angeles area for the intervention, where her husband Sam Asghari, her manager, doctors, and an interventionist would be present, but that things changed when Spears became “somewhat aware” of the plan, which was for Spears to reside in the rented house while she received medical treatment and psychological counseling.
Despite the cancellation of the intervention, Spears agreed to meet with a doctor, which “went well,” according to TMZ.
According to TMZ, Spears’ father Jamie, mother, and sons were not involved in the scheme.
Spears took to Instagram to respond to the reports where she posted a quote that read, “A state of gratitude will shift you to a higher frequency.”
“It makes me sick to my stomach that it’s even legal for people to make up stories that I almost died … I mean at some point enough is enough,” Spears wrote in the caption. “I’m probably going to have to stop posting on Instagram because even though I enjoy doing it, there’s obviously a lot of people who don’t wish me well !!! I’m honestly not surprised at all … Again doing the best I can !!!”
She continued, “Again, the conservatorship has been over for almost a year … No folks, it’s not 2007 … it’s 2023 and I’m making my first homemade lasagna at home !!! I finally got my fireplace to work in my living room !!! As my hubby says it best: don’t believe everything you read !!! All that love right back at ya!!!”
In a follow-up post shared Friday on her Instagram, Spears continued to address the reports. She shared a video clip that began with words appearing on the screen, “The media this week said…” before Spears appears and continues the statement, “I died. I didn’t die people. I didn’t die. I’m here. I’m alive. Yeah i’m very much alive and well and i’ve got my fur here. See, i’m feeling myself… I’m here. I’m happy and i’m well and that’s it.”
“This week in the news it said that I almost died and that I have a manager and ‘doctors’ !!! I don’t have a management team nor will I ever again in my life,” she wrote in the caption. “I don’t have ‘medical doctors’ !!!”
She continued to share that she takes Prozac for depression and “that’s about it.” “I’m an extremely boring person !!! It frustrates me to know that any news outlet would say any of this !!! It’s worse than a cruel joke because people believe this stuff and all of my efforts in getting better with my little routine of prayer and therapy seems to not count for anything when people can say things that are incredibly wrong,” she wrote. She finished her statement with “enough drama … I’m into diamond gowns and funky fashion at the moment !!! Good Morning !!!!!”
In a statement to Access Hollywood, Asghari also addressed the reports stating, “An intervention did not occur. My wife is in full control of her life and will continue to make all decisions involving her care regardless of circumstances. Speculation on her health is inappropriate and should end immediately.”
Spears’ post comes just days after she responded to reports on Jan. 26 that police were called to her home by fans concerned about her well-being after she deleted her Instagram account.
“As everyone is aware, the police were called to my house due to some prank phone calls. “I love and adore my fans, but things went a little too far this time, and my privacy was invaded,” Spears wrote in a post at the time. “The police never entered my home, and when they arrived at my gate, they quickly realised there was no problem and left.”
She continued at the time, “This felt like I was being gaslit and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media. During this time in my life, I truly hope the public and my fans who I care so much about can respect my privacy moving forward.”
