NFL and DAZN reach 10-Year agreement for International game pass streaming package
The sports streamer will make National Football League games available to global subscribers, excluding China, starting with the 2023 season.
The NFL and DAZN Group have agreed to a 10-year agreement to deliver NFL Game Pass International to sports fans worldwide beginning with the 2023 season.
The long-term agreement comes as the NFL increasingly seeks a piece of the rapidly expanding global TV streaming market, just as the traditional pay TV bundle begins to decline.
The NFL’s Game Pass International service, which allows fans outside the United States to watch pro football games during the regular and postseasons but excludes China, will be available as a standalone subscription or add-on package within DAZN’s app.
The annual Super Bowl is included in the NFL game package for DAZN subscribers, as the pro football league seeks more direct economic exposure to its fan base outside of the United States market. Domestically, the NFL has already begun to embrace streaming platforms, with Thursday Night Football games debuting on Amazon’s Prime Video.
“Growing the NFL globally is a key strategic priority for the league and our 32 Clubs. “We are thrilled to be partnering with DAZN to help us accelerate this effort,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a statement on Tuesday.
DAZN, for its part, was pleased to be able to provide some of the most popular linear TV programming to its global subscriber base.
“The NFL is the premier sports media property, and DAZN is incredibly excited that they have chosen us as their international partner,” DAZN CEO Shay Segev said in a statement.
