Martin Bachmann, a veteran of Sony, joins the Constantin Film Executive Board

The German company said the appointment emphasized its “dedication to the worldwide theatrical film business.”

Martin Bachmann, the former managing director of Sony Pictures Entertainment for German-speaking Europe, has been appointed to the executive board of the German mini-major Constantin Film.

Beginning on July 1st of this year, Bachmann will assume the position.

Bachmann is a household figure in the German film business and represents Sony. Over the course of his more than three decades of employment with the American major, he has held a number of roles, including managing director of Sony Pictures Entertainment Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and managing director of the regional production arm Deutsche Columbia Pictures. The Spider-Man and Jumanji franchises, the James Bond movies from Casino Royale to Spectre, as well as Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. His German-language production successes include local-language hits Anatomy, Who Am I, The Vampire Sisters and 25 KM/H.

Bachmann is a “high-profile, experienced manager,” according to Martin Moszkowicz, chairman of Constantin Picture’s executive board, and his appointment “will underscore Constantin Film’s commitment to the worldwide theatrical film business,” he added.

According to Bachmann, Constantin Film is the only German studio that creates content for both the domestic and international markets. The best filmmakers and artists work there, and I am really thrilled and looking forward to joining this firm right away, especially in light of the significant chances, possibilities, and difficulties that the entire entertainment industry is facing right now.

Constantin, a prominent independent producer/distributor in Europe, is best known for the German-language school comedies Suck Me Shakespeare (Fack ju Göhte) and the Resident Evil franchise.
