Elon Musk takes a jibe at Donald Trump, saying: ‘Hang up your hat and sail into the Sunset’
“Trump would be 82 at end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything,” Elon Musk said of a potential 2024-2028 Trump presidential term
Elon Musk has spoken out about Donald Trump’s political prospects.
Musk, 51, responded to a new video of former President Trump, 76, calling Tesla CEO Elon Musk “another bulls—- artist” at an Alaska rally on Saturday, saying, “I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat and sail into the sunset.”
“Democrats should also stop attacking – don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to reclaim the presidency,” he added.
Musk also responded to a Twitter user who tweeted a list of nice things Trump achieved during his presidency: “Yes, but there is far too much drama. Do we really want every day to be a bull in a china shop?”
“I also believe the legal maximum age for beginning a Presidential term should be 69,” Musk continued.
Another commenter said he was “a little startled” to hear Musk’s take on Trump, saying, “I say Trump/DeSantis 2024 DeSantis 2028/32.”
“Trump would be 82 by the conclusion of his tenure, which is far too old to be the President of the United States of America,” Musk wrote.
Trump’s remarks came after Musk announced the termination of his $44 billion Twitter transaction, stating that the company was in “breach of many clauses” of an initial agreement.
The Twitter Board of Directors stated on Friday, “We are committed to finalizing the acquisition at the agreed-upon price and terms with Mr. Musk, and we intend to take legal action to enforce the merger agreement. We are certain that we will be successful in the Delaware Court of Chancery”.
Before pulling out of his Twitter transaction, Musk stated in May that if his proposal to acquire the social-media site went through as anticipated, he would lift the permanent ban imposed on Trump following the Capitol rioting.
“Permanent bans should be extremely unusual and only applied to bots, scams, or spam accounts… I believe that barring Donald Trump was incorrect “According to CNBC, Musk stated this at the FT Live Future of the Car conference. “I believe that was a mistake because it alienated a significant portion of the public and did not result in Donald Trump losing his voice.”
He was keen to point out, however, that he had not yet purchased Twitter.
“I would lift the indefinite prohibition,” Musk continued. “I don’t yet own Twitter. So this isn’t something that will undoubtedly occur, because what if I don’t own Twitter?”
Trump responded to the series of tweets the tech billionaire had sent Monday exhorting Trump to end his political career.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social–
And predictably, it elicited a reaction from Musk, who is known for his tongue-in-cheek remarks and at times, eccentrically bold declarations on Twitter. Replying to the barbs by Trump, Musk tweeted: “Lmaooo,” while further tweeting out a Simpsons gif in reference to the “Old Man Yells at Cloud” meme.
There seems to be no end to the war of words between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and former US President Donald Trump. Instead, it is only getting more intensified by the day.
