Conor McGregor disputes a woman’s claim of assault on a yacht
The unidentified woman claims McGregor kicked her in the midsection and punched her on his yacht after partying at Ocean Beach Club in Ibiza on July 16 for McGregor’s 34th birthday.
A woman who claimed Conor McGregor assaulted her last July and said authorities the UFC star “would have killed me” if she hadn’t leaped from his yacht is now the subject of investigations in Ireland and Spain.
On July 16, after celebrating McGregor’s 34th birthday at Ocean Beach Club in Ibiza, the unnamed woman says McGregor assaulted and kicked her on his yacht. According to the Majorca Daily Bulletin, she leaped off the yacht close to the island of Formentera and was subsequently rescued by a Red Cross boat.
“It was as if he was possessed. I knew that I had to get off the boat because I thought that he was going to kill me,” the woman told Ireland police, according to a Spanish newspaper. “We have mutual friends and I have met him numerous times. I can’t believe what he did to me. He is a criminal. I think he would have killed me if I hadn’t got off the yacht.”
The woman said she previously knew McGregor since they’re from the same neighborhood in Dublin.
The 42-year-old woman first refused to give a detailed statement to Spanish authorities, according to the publication Ultima Hora. However, the Irish authorities, to whom the woman made a complaint, contacted an Ibiza judge, who then opened an investigation.
McGregor spokeswoman Karen Kessler issued a statement in which she said, “Mr. McGregor remains firm in his denial of all the charges made by a guest aboard his boat.”
In April 2022, McGregor was arrested for reckless driving in his native Ireland and later charged with six charges. Additionally, he was charged with attacking a man in Dublin and sexually abusing him. In addition to being detained in Miami in 2019 for breaking a fan’s phone, he was also detained there in 2018 after throwing a metal dolly through a glass.
McGregor last fought in July 2021, suffering a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier. McGregor broke his leg in the bout and has been rehabbing.
John Kavanagh, McGregor’s trainer, has stated that he anticipates McGregor competing in 2023.
