Russell Dickerson and wife Kailey disclose baby loss in ‘Wonderful and Heartbreaking’ 2022
“I needed to leave this news in 2022,” Kailey wrote about the news in an Instagram post on New Year’s Eve
Russell Dickerson and wife Kailey are opening up about their “heart-wrenching” year.
The “Love You Like I Used To” singer and his wife revealed they lost a baby in 2022.
“2022 was incredibly wonderful and heart-wrenching,” Kailey wrote in an emotional Instagram post on Saturday.
“In the middle of the craziest year we have ever had, we lost a baby in September at 8 weeks,” she wrote alongside a photo of her husband and son, Remington, 2, at the beach looking out at the water.
“It felt like drowning and trying to swim towards the sun to find the surface. I didn’t know if I’d ever share this, but something about going into this next year, I needed to leave this news in 2022,” she continued.
“However, the loss is something that will always be inscribed into our story. “I know I’ll reveal more when I’m ready, but for now, and for the last several months, I’ve been keeping these two particularly dear,” she explained.
Kailey, 32, elaborated on the loss and why it is critical for people to treat one another with grace and love.
“Knowing we are more related than we thought gives me hope,” she added. “And it brings me comfort to know that no one’s life is flawless or without hardship. May we all extend more forgiveness to one another in the next year… more kindness since we never know what someone is genuinely going through… more love because we all need it.”
“And may Jesus be near to the broken-hearted. He sure has been for us 🤍,” she wrote at the end of her post.
When they were expecting Remington, the couple opened up about their pregnancy troubles. Russell revealed the challenges in a PEOPLE interview at the time. “It just got to the point where we were like, ‘Well, if it happens, it happens. It will happen when it happens.’ That aspect is entirely up to God’s timing,” the “Blue Tacoma” says “said the singer.
The artist, 35, and Kailey met as music students at Nashville’s Belmont University in 2008 and married in May 2013. Remington, their son, will be born in September 2020.
