Ryan Eggold and Isaiah Mustafa join Amazon’s “Cross”
The pair will star opposite Aldis Hodge in the drama based on James Patterson’s novels.
Two significant parts have been cast in the Alex Cross series on Amazon Prime Video.
The film Cross, based on the James Patterson book series, now stars Aldis Hodge in addition to Isaiah Mustafa (It Chapter Two) and Ryan Eggold (New Amsterdam). The title character, played by Hodge, is a detective and forensic psychologist who has a special talent for penetrating the brains of murderers and victims.
Mustafa will portray “Two-John” and “Man-Mountain,” aka John Sampson. Sampson, Alex’s partner on the force and best friend of 30 years, believes Cross is in need of professional assistance and is at a crisis point.
Eggold portrays Ed Ramsey, a genial Midwesterner with shrewd enough elbows to make a name for himself in Washington, D.C., and New York’s elite social and political circles. Ramsey is slick, well-connected, and cunning. When necessary, he can also be physically intimidating, and he harbors some extremely sinister secrets. He starts out as a supporter of Cross but quickly develops into a powerful foe.
Cross is being produced by Skydance Television and Paramount Television Studios. In addition to Cross, which is based on a best-selling book series, the two studios also collaborated on the Prime Video shows Jack Ryan and Reacher.
The showrunner is Ben Watkins (Truth Be Told, Hand of God on Prime Video). Along with Sam Ernst, Jim Dunn, Craig Siebels, Patterson, and his James Patterson Entertainment partners Bill Robinson and Patrick Santa, and Skydance TV’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell. Hodge is a producer.
Mustafa became well-known after appearing in several Old Spice advertisements. In addition, he has worked on Netflix’s Home Team, Freeform’s Shadowhunters, and the upcoming film Boy Kills World. He is represented by APA, Yorn Levine, and Megan Silverman Management.
Eggold has wrapped out the sixth season of the NBC medical drama New Amsterdam. Along with BlacKkKlansman, Never Rarely Sometimes Always, and The CW’s 90210, the former Blacklist regular has other acting credits. Attorney David Matlof, Gersh, and Entertainment 360 all represent him.
