Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” marks her musical comeback
The song is featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming Marvel sequel ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’
With the release of “Lift Me Up,” which is included on the soundtrack of the upcoming Marvel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Rihanna made her eagerly anticipated comeback to music on October 28.
This week, enigmatic billboards across New York City and a teaser post on social media that featured the next film’s title showing onscreen before emphasizing the first “R” in “Forever” were used to promote the song.
The song “Lift Me Up” was composed as a remembrance of the late Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away at the age of 43 from colon cancer. The song was written by Tems, Oscar winner Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna, and director Ryan Coogler.
Since the release of Anti, which spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and featured the song “Love on the Brain,” the artist hasn’t put out a new album. Three Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles were also included on the project, including Drake’s “Work,” which peaked at No. 1. She and Bryson Tiller reached No. 2 in July 2017 on DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts.”
Rihanna’s hiatus from live performances is set to end on February 12, 2023, when she performs as the headlining act at the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show. She has not yet made any announcements regarding the recording of her ninth studio album.
Next Friday sees the release of the Wakanda Forever soundtrack, which was created by Coogler, Göransson, Archie Davis, and Dave Jordan (Nov. 4). Below, you can hear “Lift Me Up” by Rihanna.
