Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Sex of First Baby, Says She Felt Like Life ‘Started Over’ with Motherhood
Jennifer Lawrence has a new bouncing baby … boy!
In the October issue of Vogue, the first-time mom, 32, reveals the sex of her little one, whom she gave birth to in February, and reflects on embracing the real-life role.
“It’s so scary to talk about motherhood. Only because it’s so different for everybody. If I say ‘It was amazing from the start,’ some people will think, ‘It wasn’t amazing for me at first,’ and feel bad,” she told the magazine.
The actress continued, “Fortunately I have so many girlfriends who were honest. Who was like, ‘It’s scary? You might not connect right away. You might not fall in love right away.’ “
“So I felt so prepared to be forgiving,” she said.
“I remember going with one of my best friends at, like, nine months and saying, ‘Everyone keeps claiming that I will love my baby more than my cat,'” Lawrence added. But that is not the case. ‘Perhaps I’ll love him as much as I adore my cat?’
The lifecycle event, however, ended up opening a door for Lawrence. “My heart has stretched to an extent that I was unaware of,” she explained. “I include my spouse in that,” she said, and it made her appreciate the newborns among us.
“I felt like my whole life had started again the morning after I gave birth,” she remarked. “Like, ‘Today is the first day of my life.'” I just stood there staring. I was completely smitten. fell in love with all babies everywhere. Newborns are just so amazing. They’re these pink, swollen, fragile little survivors. Now I love all babies. Now I hear a baby crying in a restaurant and I’m like, ‘Awwww, preciousssss.’ “I also
The Academy Award winner then reflected, as she always does, “But what happens when the infant is no longer a baby?”
“Then they’re both just out there, like, wandering about, crossing streets. He plans to learn to drive one day. He’ll be a dumb adolescent behind the wheel of an automobile. And all I’m going to say is, ‘Good night!’ Do you understand? Who, for example, sleeps? “She stated.
The actress also expressed gratitude for a smooth pregnancy in the midst of a new, post-Roe v. Wade world.
“I remember thinking about it a million times while I was pregnant,” Lawrence remarked. “I was thinking about what was going on with my body. And I had a wonderful pregnancy. I had a pretty lucky pregnancy. But each and every second of my existence was unique. And it occurred to me from time to time: What if I was forced to do this?”
Last October, the politically active actress showed her support for abortion rights while pregnant at the Rally for Abortion Justice in Washington, D.C., alongside pal Amy Schumer.
Lawrence, who wore a checkered dress to show off her baby bulge, hoisted a banner that read, “Women can’t be free if they don’t control their bodies.”
In her Vogue interview, the star also weighed in on the gun-control debate and shared how her perspective as a mom has strengthened her resolve even more.
“I’m raising a little boy who is going to go to school one day,” Lawrence said. “Guns are the number-one cause of death for children in the United States. And people are still voting for politicians who receive money from the [National Rifle Association]. It blows my mind.”
She said, “What if Sandy Hook made no difference? We as a nation simply said, ‘OK! We are allowing our youngsters to give their life in defense of a second amendment right that was drafted over 200 years ago.'”
Lawrence has a son with Cooke Maroney, whom she married in October 2019.
