Sasha Farber and Emma Slater separate after 4 years of marriage
Sasha Farber and Emma Slater got engaged in 2016 and tied the knot in 2018
According to PEOPLE, Emma Slater and Sasha Farber of Dancing With the Stars have divorced after four years of marriage.
Farber, 38, and Slater, 33, recently choreographed a number of dances for the most current season of So You Think You Can Dance.
They got engaged in October 2016 at live filming of the ABC show after performing Bruno Mars’s “Just the Way You Are.”Former host Tom Bergeron escorted them to the ballroom’s center, telling Farber, “Sasha, I always thought you had the potential to host.”
“Babe, I wanted to do this for such a long time,” Farber replied, taking Slater’s hand. He dropped down on one knee in front of a stunned Slater and proposed to her to the surprised audience: “I love you so much. Will you marry me?”
After the concert, the media learned that Farber proposed with a pink sapphire, the same color as Slater’s mother’s ring.
The pair had been good friends for two years before they became romantically involved, but Farber said he knew Slater was the one “three or four months” after they met.
“We’ve been together for five and a half years,” stated Slater at the time. “We recently purchased a home, and it feels like a natural development.” My mother always stated that marriage should seem natural and not forced. It’s to be expected because that’s when it’s appropriate, and I’ve already felt like his fiancée and wife for years. It feels really natural… Apart from the heaviness on my arm, it seems fairly comfortable.
Farber and Slater then tied the knot at Bella Blanca in Los Angeles in 2018 with close friends and family by their sides, including their fellow DWTS pros Lindsay Arnold, Hayley Erbert, Witney Carson, Brittany Cherry, and Jenna Johnson, who were all bridesmaids, US Weekly reported.
Farber looked dapper in a white and black tuxedo, while Slater said “I do” in a long-sleeve white Rivini gown with lace details.
The pair chose Ed Sheeran’s 2017 song “Perfect” for their first dance, and the Grammy-winning musician even taped a special message for them.
Slater and Farber do not have any children. News of their split was first reported by Us Weekly.
