Gary Busey allegedly touched several women inappropriately during a meet-and-greet at the recent Monster-Mania convention in New Jersey
Gary Busey is denying any wrongdoing after being charged with four counts of sexual contact and harassment after appearing at a horror convention in New Jersey.
“None of that happened. It was a partner, a camera lady and me, and two girls … it took less than 10 seconds and they left. Then they made up a story that I assaulted them sexually and I did not. Nothing happened, it’s all false,” Busey, 78, told TMZ Monday while out in Malibu.
When asked what he wanted to say to his supporters, Busey replied, “I don’t mind because there aren’t any charges. Present are no potential ones,” he claims, while claiming to have “eyewitnesses there.” “a photographer and his companion who might corroborate his denial
The semi-annual Monster-Mania Convention was held at the local Doubletree Hotel from August 12 to 14. Cherry Hill Police came to the venue over the weekend in response to a report of a sex offence.
PEOPLE received papers Busey was arrested on two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact, and one count of harassment on Saturday. The charges were filed on Friday.
Cherry Hill Police Lt. Robert Scheunemann told The Philadelphia Inquirer: “It was about contact. It was about touching,” adding that they received “multiple complaints” about the actor’s alleged conduct throughout the weekend. The Cherry Hill Police department later shared an official press release on Instagram.
According to FOX 29‘s Steve Keeley on Twitter, Cherry Hill Police verified that three women alleged that the actor sexually grabbed them during an autograph signing meet-and-greet. Busey was reportedly removed from the event with the assistance of another actor after allegedly touching women, according to Keeley.
The Lethal Weapon actor is married to Steffanie Sampson, with whom he has a 12-year-old son Luke. Jake, 51, and Alectra, 28, are his offspring from past relationships.
The Monster-Mania conference organisers claimed in a Facebook post Saturday that they are “assisting authorities in their investigation into an alleged incident involving participants and a famous guest.” They said, “Following a protest from attendees, the famous visitor was removed from the convention and told not to return. Monster-Mania also encouraged attendees to submit a report with the police.”
“The safety and well-being of all our attendees is of the utmost priority to Monster-Mania, and the company will not accept any behaviour that could jeopardise those values,” the statement reads.
