“Tomorrow at 3 p.m., there will be a bail hearing. We anticipate that he will be released later this week. We will begin our inquiry into the allegations as soon as he is released. So yet, there has been little opportunity to address them in depth “In a statement, his attorney, Roy Maughan revealed.
Mystikal (born Michael Lawrence Tyler) previously pled guilty to extortion and sexual violence in a 2003 plea agreement after being charged with aggravated rape. He was accused of forcing his hairstylist to perform sex acts on him and two bodyguards.
According to BBC News, the Tarantula artist was eventually sentenced to six years in federal jail. According to Reuters, he was released in 2010 and had to register as a sex offender in Louisiana.
Mystikal was also indicted in 2017 on separate rape and kidnapping charges and spent 18 months in jail before being released on a $3 million bond, according to the Associated Press. The charges against him were dropped after a second grand jury declined to bring an indictment, per the outlet.
